My Why

In 2019, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer and began his journey to remission; 2 surgeries, several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, a blood transfusion and numerous doctor’s visits were just part of the game.  After doing everything we could, including getting a second & third opinion on possible options, we were told that it was incurable.

Sadly, in 2021 we lost my Dad, best friend, confidant to the dreaded C word.

This is when my grief journey began with the world, it had started long before as I watched his lifestyle change and our relationship evolve from father/daughter to patient/caregiver and more so friend/friend over the years.

As I entered into the world of grieving the loss of a loved one, I realized VERY quickly that the support, the understanding, the words just weren’t available. As a society, I realized we don’t talk about grief. We don’t acknowledge it beyond the handful of days after someone passes away and I wanted better for my kids, family, and quite honestly – all of society.

This is why I chose to get certified to help my fellow grievers; be it the loss of a loved one, loss of a job, lifestyle, etc. I want to help.

“Grief is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.” -Jamie Anderson
